Road
Rage:
AB 2733: In addition to criminal penalties, motorists convicted of "road rage" assaults, as described in subdivision (a) of Section 245 of the Penal Code, will face suspension of their driver's license for six months for the first offense and a year for the second. The suspension shall commence at the discretion of the court, either on the date of the conviction or upon the person's release from confinement or imprisonment.
Walking
on a Roadway:
AB 2522 allows a pedestrian to walk on a roadway with the flow of traffic if attempting to cross the roadway would compromise the pedestrian's safety.
Pedestrian
Safety:
AB 2522 also states that motorists who injure pedestrians will face fines of $594.00. Drivers who pass another vehicle at an occupied crosswalk face a fine of $270.00. Additionally, AB 2522 adds the requirement that the operator of a vehicle shall exercise all due care and shall reduce the speed of the vehicle or take any other necessary action relating to the operation of the vehicle to safeguard the safety of the pedestrian.
Alcohol/Drug
Programs:
AB 2227 states that a court may require a convicted of a first DUI to install a certified ignition interlock device on any vehicle that the person owns or operates. The DMV will also place such restriction(s) in the person's record.
Unlawful
Use of Disabled Person Placard or License Plates:
AB 1276 allows the court to impose, in addition to or instead of civil penalties, a fine of not more than $1,500.00 for each conviction of unlawful use of a disabled person placard or disabled person/veteran license plate.
Creating/Using
Fraudulent Disabled Person Placard:

1276 also allows the court to impose a fine of not more than $2,500.00 for each
conviction of specified crimes involving the creation or use of forged,
counterfeit or falsified disabled person placard.
Point
Count:
A violation of Vehicle Code Section 27360 (failure to secure a child in a passenger restraint system), or a violation of 27360.5 will result in one traffic violation point count. (SB 567)
